The kitchen, being one of the most important spaces in your home should be carefully planned to be successful. Deciding on what fits you best is a difficult task. To help you with that, I would suggest writing down some points to see what you would want in your kitchen. How much space do I have to create what I want? How much storage do I need? How much traffic will I have? Will the kids be using a part of the kitchen? Do I want a section to interact with family and friends while I’m cooking? Answer these few questions to get you started and you will create a function full kitchen and enjoy your space to the full extent.
The functionality of its space plays an important role in the kitchen design layout. Therefore, before selecting your desired cabinet choices, or countertop material, think of what kitchen design layout is best for you? What layout will suit my kitchen space and would give me the maximum benefit? Here are some ideas to help you and give you some of the most common kitchen design layouts in Los Angeles.
The Galley or the Corridor
Taking from its name, it literally means a kitchen that looks like a corridor. Having two straight walls with the cooktop on one side and the sink on the other. However, you can also create a simple galley kitchen design layout having the sink, cooktop and refrigerator on one wall and an island for an open kitchen design concept. Islands usually help for added storage in a layout like this as you lose the extra wall cabinet space.
The L-Shaped Kitchen
One of the most seen layouts in small spaces, is the L-shaped kitchen design. It is more concentrated and private. Having all the needed appliances right within a few steps. This would have one complete wall of cabinets on one side and a shorter number of cabinets on the other. Want to add more of an inviting feel to this kitchen layout? You may add an island with some bar chairs for more interaction with family and friends.
The U-Shaped Kitchen
Do you have the need for extra storage? Do you host a lot of parties? A U-shaped kitchen design layout can be very beneficial to you if you need a lot of space in the kitchen. This layout is common for larger homes in Los Angeles. You can have a massive counter space and storage solutions. Another benefit of the U-shaped kitchen is you are able to spread out the work area.
The G-Shaped Kitchen
Similar to the U-shaped kitchen, the G-shaped kitchen layout just adds another leg to it. Do you have the need for extra storage? It is really never enough to say… yes I do have enough space. Somehow our things just never stop increasing. This layout would be very beneficial if you are one of the many people that are starving for space.
The G-shaped kitchen layout design can have extra lower cabinet space on the extra leg, aside from upper cabinets. However, you may also create a breakfast area for that extra side to it or make it a perfect spot for family and friends to gather around.
Give it some thought and extra planning and you would certainly achieve a beautiful kitchen you would enjoy!
