1. Functionality of the Space
A bathroom is one of the most important rooms of your home. It helps us to prepare ourselves for the day ahead and helps us recover from a long tiring day at work. Having a bathroom that caters to your taste can make a big difference in how your mood is created. Take into consideration of all the functions that you can incorporate into this area. Consider maybe a steam room where you can sit and relax and remove all the stress of the day, extra storage for linens, a seat in the shower, and even a nice rainforest shower head pouring over to remove all your aches and pains, or even a small television by a Jacuzzi where you can relax.
2. Planning your Space
When making the bathroom floor plan, think like an engineer. Write down any pointers that you may have to make your space very convenient. Decide on how you would like the placements of the tub, shower, toilet, and vanity. Walk around the space and see what you would require to store your objects. How far or near do you need the objects that you frequently use? How much storage space and drawers would you require? Think ease of space.
3. Choose a motif and a color scheme
Color preferences may vary for each individual. Decide on a motif for your bathroom and consider what you will be comfortable with. Choose a color scheme and blend objects and accessories to create continuity in the space. When purchasing accessories for your bath, consider the overall color scheme to blend everything together. A neutral color scheme would more likely be suitable for a bathroom rather than loud strong colors. You want a space where you feel calm and utmost comfortable.
4. Understand your flooring
Flooring can have a major impact on the style and sense of the room. When selecting the right flooring for your bath, research on the qualities and drawbacks of the material. What will be safe and slip resistant? What is more likely to have less maintenance? What will match the style of your bath?
5. Season it with fixtures
In today’s market, we have a vast variety of different styles and finishes of bathroom fixtures. Select one that compliments the style and motif of your bathroom. For example, if you have a contemporary style bathroom, a stainless steel fixture would go well with your style.
6. Pay close attention to the lighting
Improper lighting can make your space dull, boring and not functional. Consider appropriate lighting for the vanity and shower areas and where mirrors are present. Adding a dimmer to the bathroom is a great idea as it can create the mood you crave for. You may have it brightly lit for when you need to get ready and go about your day, or dimly lit for when you want to wind down and relax after coming home from a tiring day.
7. Hard + Soft
Bathroom with fine lines can sometimes seem a little harsh and still. Softening the look with draperies and towels can even out the impact of the bathroom. A few accessories on the vanity can add up to charm and complete the look.
8. A little bit of earth
Incorporate a little accent of greenery in the bathroom. A small plant on the vanity counter can cut out the stiff lines of the tiles or marble in the bathroom. Bring a touch of the earth into your serene space.
