Modern designs showcase clean lines, earth tones, open spaces, and more often goes by the terms “form follows function”.

This design concept features elements from shiny surfaces, glass and stainless steel. It has a softer look compared to modern designs. You may find embellished designs like a claw foot detail that shows the traditional look. The traditional kitchen design has its classy feel or richness and glam. Though in these current times, traditional kitchen look is often mixed with a little modern touch to soften up the space and not make it look very heavy.

For example, you may have a granite slab for the countertop and have detailed pedestals for the kitchen island with traditional looking cabinets.

Understanding the differences between these design styles will be very helpful when speaking to a kitchen design professional.
